![]() Real Microman Page .![]() ![]() . Ah, the BioSuit. The only item made for the Real Microman series sold on the mass market, which was shelved with the rest of the series. Real Microman sets are MODEL KITS you assemble and paint, and it even included a "Hyper Microman" figure you could build and paint yourself. The figure was less articulated than the toy ones, but it and the parts of the kit were still based on the same 5mm pegs that the toys are, making them fully interchangable! Note the Walker. This was pictured on a special promotional giveaway which involved sending in proofs of purchase for both the biosuits. You can see the nose of it in the picture next to it to the far right, with another unindentifiable nose of a vehicle on the left. Were these prototypes for later Real Microman kits? Most likely, as this appears to coincide with the direction Takara had planned to take the toyline in 1985 had not Transformers superceded it, trading the autonomous transforming robots for a more realisitic piloted mecha style approach. ![]() ![]() Here is my custom chromed Biosuit 1 and Hyper Microman figure. For info on how I had them chromed, see the chrome figure section of my Figures page. .![]() Earlier other model kits had been licensed to the model company Nitto. One such kit is my transforming New Acroyear you see above. Nitto would later make the super-realistic "SF 3D" series of 1/20 scale kits that might have been influenced by the Real Microman series. Speaking of "Real" Microman models, I once took an old Terraphant and beefed it up into a much more evil and detailed looking Terraphant Mk-2. I wish I still had the model or photos of it, but it was a lot of fun to try to "enhance" the design. The head was more detailed, with red eyes, a HUD, and the purple missiles substituted with more convincing looking weaponry. The back section I put in a detailed cockpit with a canopy and replaced the pump with a gun turret. The whole thing was repainted in matte black and then detailed. I took a lot of inspiration from the Terraphant prototype photo in the catalog and the box art. Maybe someday I'll try and 3D render one... Oh, for grins, below is a catalog cover to the Microman Model Kits licensed from Takara by Nitto. There were always lots of licensed spinoffs, even Microman candy, erasers, etc. ![]() You can find more pics of a BioSuit on: Micropola |
